Hi Friends! I’m REALLY excited to share with you my thoughts on THE BALM COSMETICS “Highlite ‘N Con Tour” Palette. When I saw this on social Media I decided it was one I would buy, then it turned up on my door step! YES!! Every time I see a new contour palette I ALWAYS wonder why more palettes don’t include a blush as well at the Highlight and contours, well this one does! Keep reading for my thoughts and swatches!
The link above is to the lookfantastic site and they ship worldwide, at the bottom of the post you can shop Internationally also and if you are in Australia you can get this at David Jones!
In this palette you get –
– 2 Matte Highlights (light peach and banana
– 2 Shimmer Highlights (a light golden pearl and a champagne gold)
– 2 contours shades (a light and a dark
– 1 Bronzer
– 1 Blush
I am LOVING this palette!!! Even though the pans are long and skinny I dont find it hard to NOT mix the shades, if you turn your brush sideways it’s quite easy to pick up the shade you want. I love the variety in this palette, as per most contour palettes on the market this is not going to work for really dark skin tones (which sucks) but its going to cover fair up to quite olive/tanned skin.
Being a Medium skin tone this works well for me. I like the peachy matte setting powder under my eyes and BOTH highlights work well for me.
This formula feels different from the original “Marylou-manizer” formula, its smoother but just as pigmented. This gave the most BEAUTIFUL Glow and for all of you who like your highlight strong you can definitely achieve it with these highlights.
The Blush shade, its quite universal. For fair skin apply it sparingly and the darker your skin tone to more you can apply. It’s a standard rosey fuchsia and I really like it. The more Orange toned powder is a gorgeous Neutral peachy brown blush for me but its intended as a bronzer.
I like the Shade 20db for bronzing, though it looks quite cool toned it applies really warm on my skin. The darker contour 10db again looks more Neutral/cool toned but applies warmer on me. With my olive undertones it works perfectly.
These shots are from an Instagram Video I made using this palettes (search the hashtag #BIBTHEBLAM ) to see the palette in Action or follow me @beauty.in.bold
You can see my Bronzer and contour is quite warm and the highlight is so pretty
One complaint I have about this palette is It’s not going to work for darker skin tones, the inclusion of a darker Matte and Shimmer highlight could have made this palette almost universal.
I love this palette, I LOVE the packaging and for my skin tone I love the shades. This is also so nice on your eyes. This will be a palette I use often!
Thankyou for reading!
